Just the Rebels sir...they're here

Hasbro has stated several times that the Clone Wars line of figures are doing so well obviously because of the animated movie and series.

Would anybody want to see the original trilogy animated? Maybe if kids saw animated versions of the movie and it did well, we fans of the OT could see some of the vehicles and figures made due to an increase in popularity. I'm not talking a reboot but a direct transfer to animation; line for line word for word, just animated. If so would you prefer the 3D style of the Clone Wars or some basic old school "flat" animation.

I for one would not be opposed. The only negative I could see would be they (Hasbro) could/would want to make the figures in an animated style instead of realistic

Hmmm.  I think that the Clone Wars has proven that Star Wars on tv can work.  But are people prepared to look at the OT's characters that way?  I think they might be.  But as with anything I think the stories would have to be strong.

The thing is, we've seen George Lucas override some established EU storylines with his own input into The Clone Wars.  For instance, EU storylines had been developed around the Mandalorians by some authors, but some of that groundwork has shifted because of GL's story moves in the animated series.  This led to one author quitting her work on Star Wars.

Would an OT era cartoon series respect the continuity that's been established in EU novels?  Or would GL just do his own thing there, too?
