Just the Rebels sir...they're here

Here are some Rebel Commandoes I made after picking up two of them today. The trench coat is nice but it seemed as if only one of the team was wearing one. I decided to upgrade the Saga version.

The first one I made by putting the coat from the Saga version on him and adding a different head. The head is from the mullet guy from the Joker Squad.

The second one I did the same thing except I cut off the bandolier (just to make it different) and turned the belt around the holster is on the right instead of left. I used the DSII Luke head since he looks "mature"

Here is a back view showing off the backpack

Here is a Mon Calamari Officer made from the new Admiral Ackbar. I simply painted his uniform tan. I think it looks more movie accurate than the orangish-beige one of the POTJ version. I also place the helmet fromn the old version on him. Most pics show they weren't wearing helmets but one pics shows an officer on an upper level wearing one. He also got a new blaster because the old one is out of scale.

If I can still find Ackbars (they pegwarm like crazy) and there is ever a great sale again, I plan on doing a few more.

I finally found the Rebel Fleet Trooper this morning. I cannot wait until I get more. Since I only have one I decided to pop a head on, take a pic and then go on to the next head. I figure it is sort of like the  placeholders that Hasbro uses at  Toyfair and ComicCon and then release the final product later. This is what my Fleet Troopers will look like when I find enough. I plan on doing way more. These are the extra heads that I had in the parts box. Later I may go through and use the others that fit. The first three up are the two "flavors" of the Hoth Rebel Trooper and Endor Rebel Commando or the Beard Brigade. The last two are Jake Farell and John D

So this is some of what the troopers will look like when I find more

Here are some more Rebels. The first up is a pair of Honor Guards. One is unmodified, the other has a Jake Farell head

http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sawallace1138/Custom%20Figures/HonorGuards.jpg

Next up are three Rebel Officers as seen at the medal ceremony on Yavin. Simply an Honor Guard and a ball cap from the RFT. I plan on using the caps for these guys and not the RFT. Again, since I only have two Honor Guards at the moment, these are place holders as well

http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sawallace1138/Custom%20Figures/RebelOfficer3.jpg

http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sawallace1138/Custom%20Figures/RebelOfficer1.jpg

http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sawallace1138/Custom%20Figures/RebelOfficer2.jpg

The thing I found interesting about the ball cap is they sculpted it to look like a real ball cap complete with the "hole" above size adjuster. It even had sculpted hair to make it look real. Too bad they couldn't/wouldn't paint that spot to match the hair color of the figure

With the 2/$10.99 sale going on I picked up some more Rebel Troops to make more customs.

First up is a Rebel Fleet Trooper (first of hopefully many). Simple head swap and hot glued the holster from the Saga 2 Endor Rebel Trooper

Here is a close up

Here are the two troopers together
http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sawallace1138/Custom%20Figures/FleetTrooperA3.jpg

Also picked up a couple of ERC. I knew I wanted to make the one that was only avaible in the ROTJ ComicCon exclusive set. I wanted him to have the short tan jacket insted of the long coat. The head fit but the neck was too long so I had to replace the neck post with the Saga 2 version.

http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sawallace1138/Custom%20Figures/EndorTrooperD.jpg

The second ERC is a simple head swap and a jacket from the Saga version.

Finally, decided to do something about the outdated Gold Leader figure. I removed the head and dremeled it out and place it on a John D body

I like the RFTs.  It's amazing what a simple head swap will do.

I can't wait to find about eight or so more. The one obstacle I am running into is finding some additional suitable heads. I would like to have it so I'm not using the same heads on the RFTs as I did on the HRTs and the ERCs (wow!! that's a lot of acronyms Wink ). I have some ideas on which heads I would like to use but it seems almost impossible/improbable to track some of them down.

I don't get it.  Why would you put new heads on your hormone replacement therapy?  And I'm absolutely baffled as to how one could be installed on any type of baseball statistic.

Too funny. Took a sec to get that

GI Joe heads can be dremelled to fit in some cases. I have used a couple of Joe heads on customs. Fortunately I don't troop build to have to keep taking Joe heads off of the Joes.

I used a Mutt head for one of the Bespin Guards. The only thing I have with using Joe heads it usually leaves a body that I have trouble finding something to do with. Mutt's body is just lying in my parts box. Not much I can do with it.

I have used ebay to get figures on the cheap to use as custom parts. Buying a mixed lot of Joes and SW with parts and accessories missing helps not feel like much is being wasted.

Picked up the Rebel transport speeder at TRU yesterday. Of course I had to customize the Rebel Ground crew. I popped off the Ryan Stiles head and replaced it with the RFT head. I also cut off the holster since they weren't film accurate. I don't always go for film accuracy but this way I have holsters for the RFTs. I decided to make him one of the techs hanging arond the ships. He needed to be dirtier, so I gave him a light black wash.

http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sawallace1138/Custom%20Figures/YavinTech1.jpg

Since we are talking about film accuracy (or lack thereof) I decided to take a pic with the cap on. I checked last night and didn't see a single tech/ground crew wearing a cap. They should have though. In my opinion it looks better on him as a tech than a fleet trooper.

http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sawallace1138/Custom%20Figures/YavinTech2.jpg

Here they are side by side; ground crew and tech. I chopped the holster off the first guy as well. Again, they didn't have them in the movie and it will be used for upcoming RFTs

Here is a quick scene I threw together with the two figs, speeder and a Y-Wing. It would probably look better with an actual hangar backdrop.

Picked up a second Rebel Transport last week so I needed to mod another ground crew. I took a bearded Hoth Rebel Trooper head and painted the hair black. I "filled" in the beard by painting it black too. Popped it on to the Ground Crew body and there you have it; another transport driver

http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sawallace1138/Custom%20Figures/YavinTech4.jpg

As I was working on this guy I noticed that Hasbro forgot to paint ther "strap" on the helmet's chinguard. I did a quick paint job and fixed the helmets of both of the transport drivers

http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sawallace1138/Custom%20Figures/YavinTechs.jpg

As I plan on doing a hangar diorama, I will pick up a few more of these guys if and when I find them. I don't mind picking them up at the price they are now(granted I would love to pay less) but I think I would have bought multiples of the Scramble on Yavin BP for these guys and this way I won't have to find a use for the other two figures. Hasbro could have re-released this set with a different pilot and astromech and new headsculpt for the tech and they could have had a hit on their hands. Hopefully Hasbro realizes the army building potential of these guys and throw them in the Legends line or a nice battlepack. If they do that I beg of them to make a new head sculpt for him.

Here is one of Cracken's commandoes (Falcon crew member if you like). It is just a Col. Cracken with a Naboo Royal Guard head.

Here he is
